Installing the Hotjar Tracking Code on your site using Google Tag Manager is simple. Just follow the steps below.
- Click Add a new tag
- Click the tag icon & select "Hotjar Tracking Code" from the list:
- Enter your Hotjar Site ID into the text field. Here's how you find it:
- Selecting the Trigger
Click on the "Triggering" section, you will be forwarded to the trigger settings. Select "All Pages", this will ensure that the Hotjar tracking code is added to all of your pages. From there, you will be redirected back to the Tag Configuration and Triggering page.
- Click "Save" & "Publish":
Once you've added the Hotjar Tracking Code to your site (Steps 1-4), you'll need to wait a few minutes for Hotjar to check if it's installed correctly. This usually happens the moment your site is loaded with the Hotjar code on it (you can visit the page yourself to speed it up).
Once Hotjar has detected the Tracking Code on your site, the GTM Dashboard will show a notice like the one below:
